Getting help

Settings › Help & Support has everything on this page, with buttons for each step.

  • GitHub Discussions: ask a question or report a problem in public, where the answer helps the next person too.
  • Email: for anything you’d rather not post where everyone can read it, tap Email support in Settings › Help & Support. It starts a message with your app version, iPhone model and iOS version already filled in.

Say what happened and what you expected, and include a report.

  1. Open Settings › Diagnostics.
  2. Tap the copy button at the top right, then Copy all.
  3. Paste it into your post or email.

Copy all gathers one report: the app’s log, the logs of the parts that handle alerts and widgets, and the state of your notification setup.

In the report, your server’s addresses and your username are masked, and your password and other sign-in details are never in it. It does still name your cameras and anything else you named yourself, so read it before posting it in public.

When no alerts arrive at all, or the server itself misbehaves, its logs help too. Open Settings › Server Status and tap Open live logs, wait for the problem to happen again, then share the lines with Share these lines. Reading the server’s logs needs an administrator account. See Server status, logs and restart.

The watch keeps a log of its connection to your server, and sends it to your iPhone only when you ask:

  1. In Settings › Diagnostics on your iPhone, scroll to Apple Watch Log and tap Get watch log.
  2. If asked, open Fregata Mobile on your Apple Watch: it sends the log when it opens.
  3. When the log arrives, tap Copy watch log and paste it in as well. Copy all includes only its newest lines.

For anything about Frigate itself, such as setting up cameras, recordings, zones or storage, the Frigate documentation is the place to look.

Wipe app settings…, at the bottom of Settings › Diagnostics, erases your server address, sign-in, notification wording and this iPhone’s registration from this iPhone, and starts the welcome walkthrough again. It turns iCloud Sync off first, so nothing is removed from iCloud and your other devices aren’t affected. It doesn’t touch your server, and nothing recorded is deleted. There’s no undo.
