Focus and Time Sensitive alerts
A Focus, Do Not Disturb included, holds most notifications back until it ends. Whether your camera alerts get through is up to you, and there are three ways to decide it.
Break through Focus
Section titled “Break through Focus”Settings › Device Notification Settings › Break through Focus is on to begin with. This iPhone only
- On: alerts arrive as Time Sensitive. They show on the Lock Screen and make their sound even while a Focus is on, Do Not Disturb included.
- Off: alerts arrive as ordinary notifications. A Focus holds them back without a sound or a banner, and you see them when you next unlock or open Notification Center.
It sets the Default level of every alert. A notification filter can still make a camera, or an object on it, louder or quieter than that.
Time Sensitive isn’t a critical alert: an iPhone with its silent switch on stays silent, and iOS gives a security-camera app no way around that.
If alerts still don’t break through
Section titled “If alerts still don’t break through”iOS lets you refuse Time Sensitive alerts in two places, and either one wins:
- Settings › Notifications › Fregata Mobile › Time Sensitive Notifications has to be on.
- In Settings › Focus, open the Focus, then Apps: Time Sensitive Notifications has to be allowed.
Focus Filters
Section titled “Focus Filters”A Focus Filter lets a Focus choose which alerts still make themselves known: when Sleep is on, only a person at the front door.
- Open the iOS Settings app and tap Focus, then the Focus you want, such as Sleep.
- Under Focus Filters, tap Add Filter and choose Fregata Mobile.
- Choose Cameras, Objects, or both: for example the Front Porch camera, and Person.
- Tap Add.
While that Focus is on, alerts that match arrive as usual, and the rest arrive quietly, with no banner and no sound, in Notification Center. Set only cameras and any object from them gets through; set only objects and they get through from any camera; set both and an alert has to match both.
Anything left out isn’t silenced outright: iOS gives an app no way to do that. It’s delivered quietly instead, so it’s there when you look.
Switch filters with a Focus
Section titled “Switch filters with a Focus”To change far more than a Focus Filter can, such as quiet hours, zones and per-object levels, switch notification filter when a Focus starts. In the Shortcuts app:
- Open Automation and tap +.
- Choose Focus, pick a Focus such as Sleep, and choose When Turning On.
- Add the Fregata Mobile action Set Notification Filter, and choose the filter, such as Sleep.
- Make a second automation for When Turning Off that sets it back to Home.
See Siri and Shortcuts for every action.
