# Choose which alerts reach you

> The six ways to quiet alerts in Fregata Mobile — filters, snooze, quiet hours, Focus, hidden labels and turning a camera off for everyone — compared by who they affect, how long they last, and when to use each.

There are several ways to hear about less, and they differ in two ways that matter: **who** a
change affects, and **how long** it lasts. Most of them change this iPhone only. One changes the
server, for everyone.

## Which one do I want?

| I want to… | Use | Who it affects | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stop alerts from one camera for an hour or two | [Snooze](https://mobile.fregata.app/docs/alerts/snooze/) | This iPhone | Up to 24 hours, then ends by itself |
| Hear nothing for a while | [Snooze every alert](https://mobile.fregata.app/docs/alerts/snooze/#snooze-everything) | This iPhone | Up to 24 hours |
| Never be told about cars on the driveway | [Notification filters](https://mobile.fregata.app/docs/alerts/filters/) | This iPhone | Until you change it |
| Hear only some cameras when I'm home, others when I'm out | [Notification filters](https://mobile.fregata.app/docs/alerts/filters/): Home and Away | This iPhone | Until you switch filter |
| Keep alerts silent at night | [Quiet hours](https://mobile.fregata.app/docs/alerts/filters/#quiet-hours), in a filter | This iPhone | Every night |
| Let only a person at the front door through while asleep | [Focus Filters](https://mobile.fregata.app/docs/alerts/focus/#focus-filters) | This iPhone | While that Focus is on |
| Stop the app mentioning a label at all, such as a door sensor | [Hidden labels](https://mobile.fregata.app/docs/alerts/pictures-video-sound/#hide-labels-you-never-want-to-hear-about) | This iPhone | Until you change it |
| Stop a camera alerting anyone | [Turn it off for everyone](https://mobile.fregata.app/docs/alerts/server-wide/) | Everyone on the server | Until an administrator turns it on |
| Stop a camera alerting anyone while builders are in | [Pause for everyone](https://mobile.fregata.app/docs/alerts/server-wide/) | Everyone on the server | Until the time you choose, or a restart |

## This iPhone, or everyone

Everything in **Settings › Notifications on This iPhone**, and everything you reach in passing —
a camera's **Alerts** button, an alert's actions, the widgets, Control Center, Shortcuts — changes
**this iPhone only**. (This iPhone only) Your partner's iPhone keeps getting the alerts it
always did, and nothing changes on the server.

Only **Settings › Server-Wide Notifications** changes the server. (Everyone on your server) It's
Frigate's own switch for each camera, the same one in Frigate's web interface, so it changes
what every account gets, on every device. It needs an administrator account, and it asks
before it does anything.

## When they combine

They stack, and the quietest wins:

- A **snooze** sits on top of whatever filter is in force: while it lasts, nothing it covers
  gets through.
- A camera turned off **for everyone** sends nothing, whatever this iPhone's filters say.
- Within a filter, when two settings disagree about how loud an alert should be, the **louder**
  one wins. See [Levels](https://mobile.fregata.app/docs/alerts/filters/#levels).
- A **Focus Filter** can't silence an alert completely: iOS doesn't let an app do that. What
it leaves out arrives quietly, without a banner or a sound.

## Where to see what was held back

**Settings › Notification Filters › Held back** lists the alerts your filters and snoozes kept
from this iPhone in the last 24 hours, and which setting held each one back. It's the place to
look when you expected an alert and didn't get one. See [Held back](https://mobile.fregata.app/docs/alerts/filters/#held-back).
